The art of tailing or shadowing has inherent obstacles which leaves most Private Investigators with no options but to provide a Caveat which states as follows:

CAVEAT:  When surveillance is necessary we feel obligated to inform you of the “real life caveats.” Surveillance, especially moving surveillance, is a hit and miss science. We can perform these observations under agreed upon time and location parameters but cannot promise activity on behalf of the subject. Similarly, moving surveillance carries with it inherent obstacles such as the unpredictable nature of traffic. There is no guarantee that contact with the subject can be maintained as we cannot predict traffic flow, traffic conditions, weather, or other unforeseen problems. This includes traffic laws. Similarly, privacy and private property laws will dictate the conduct of some surveillance.

With the use of a GPS it is very difficult to lose the subject.  Here is how the GPS/GSM works:

How it Works
Using assisted GPS (AGPS), and code division multiple access (CDMA) wireless cellular technology, We locate vehicles or packages using a timed synchronized system that provides precise location fixes. Our software plots the exact location of the Unit onto easy to see digital maps with satellite view available 24/7 from our website.  Same as the 911 emergency system used by the government.

GPS Vehicle Tracking
Using satellite (GPS) technology, the unit quietly tracks a subject's vehicle exact location. When tracking the unit reports the vehicle location using cellular and GPS signals, via the internet on our 24/7 Find and See monitoring center. 

GPS GEO Fencing
We can build a fence around a vehicle or object containing the Unit. When the unit travels outside the virtual fence we set up, we are notified and the unit will then start tracking in real time.

Quick Magnetic Mount Box
Unit has been designed with a Quick magnetic mount box. The box is water tight and has a strong magnetic on the bottom of it for quickly installing it on a vehicle. You can use the unit by itself or with the box for quick vehicle installs.

           

The tail or shadow is not jeopardized by traffic conditions and a suspicious subject will not see someone behind him or have a need to shake/lose the tail.  Your valuables and personal safety is the utmost importance and the use of a GPS increases tremendously the probability of a successful tail.
